ASPECT AND DESCRIPCION

The origin of the papaya tree himself loses in the fog of the history, but the experts say that it is original of the volcanic sides, sunned and rainy of America center, in the understand territory between which today it is the south of Mexico and Nicaragua.

It has male and female plants since they are developed separately, the adult first are able to strike until more than 100 annual fruits with a weight that is able to reach to the 9 Kg.

The plants are able to surpass the 6 meters high. The flowers are big and white, the fruits possess a pulp of varied color being more than the yellow to the orange and terra cotta of a delicate flavor as the honey.

HISTORY

Thousand years before the arrival of the Spanish's the papaya tree was amply cultured and appreciated in Peru. Among the ruin's of the chimú and nazca cultures have been met blunder vessels that represent the PAPAYA.
In the church of saint Francisco of the Quito city, Equator, in the left aisle it has two fruit source paintings representing a story and touched up with enamels golden in which they are stood out two enormous papayas.

CULINARY USE

It can be used directly as sweetened fruit being very tasty when it is mixed with semihard or hard cheeses.
Also are able to be emaciated swamplands with chocolate or integrating the cubes of fruits in puddings and sweet bread.
If it is boiled cocktail with other fruits of the same type is obtained very delicious compotes.
Small pieces are able to be added to ice creams, cake fillings and exotic foods, accompanying meats vary while it is cooked in casseroles and have juice during the cooking.
